UAE Health & Safety – Safe Working Practices

Employers should provide adequate training throughout the UAE to allow employees to operate Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWP)/Aerial Work Platforms (AWP) safely and competently.

UAE IPAF Training – Dubai

In Dubai, IPAF courses are regulated by the Dubai Municipality’s Occupational Health and Safety Department. The department sets standards for safe work practices in Dubai, including the use of powered access
equipment such as manlifts or mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs).

According to the technical guideline GU67 from Dubai Municipality, it is required that all operators of Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPs) receive training that complies with the ISO18878 standard set
by IPAF.

IPAF Manlift Operator Training Courses are available on the following categories of powered access equipment:

  • Static Vertical (1a) – Vertical personnel platforms (static)

IPAF Demonstrator

This course includes a test paper on legal requirements and provides delegates with the skills to familiarise operators with their responsibilities and demonstrate safe operating procedures.

IPAF Training – PAL Powered Access Licence Cards and Logbooks

Upon successfully completing an IPAF course, you will receive an IPAF PAL (Powered Access License) ID card and an IPAF Operator’s log book to record the machines you operate.

The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) promotes the safe and effective use of powered access equipment worldwide – by providing technical advice and safety initiatives, influencing and interpreting
legislation via an internationally recognized standard, and operator training programs.

IPAF Operator 3a 3b

This 1-3-day course instructs an operator to prepare and safely operate various Manlifts and MEWPs, including scissor lifts and boom lifts. A mix of theory and practical training,
this course is designed to enable operators to manoeuvre, drive and position the MEWPs safely and proficiently. Courses can be undertaken on scissor lifts, boom lifts, trailer mounted or
truck-mounted platforms.

The Mobile Vertical 3a scissor lift and personnel platform operator course is a one-day training program that teaches operators how to prepare and safely operate these machines. The course is
a combination of theoretical and practical training, designed to equip operators with the necessary skills to manoeuvre, drive, and position the MEWPs (Mobile Elevating Work Platforms) safely
and effectively.

operators of various types of MEWPs, boom lifts, trailer-mounted, and truck-mounted platforms.

Trainees that hold an in-date PAL card with the relevant Categories (3a & 3b)
